Meditative Hue

Missing image
Saturated
bathed in turquoise light
illuming darkest midnight

Striated
grooved with depths and ridges
ripples flowing under bridges

Stimulated
washed in swirling dayglow
afloat in tonal overflow

Satiated
calmed in mind by colors pristine
soothing turquoise and aquamarine

This is such a beautiful colour. The hues between green and blue, feel like we could choose which of the two colours fit to our present mood.
For some reason, the colour green fascinates and soothes me.
Your avatar looks like a turquoise gem of different hues, I liked it since first time I saw it.
Your poem has the same effect of green, soothing.
You have this special calmness which comes through your words, even printed words can tell how a voice sounds like, I imagine yours to be very soft.
    The lullaby voice of M-C

    • Only in the quiet of the night!

My buddy would express himself on the subject,
saying that I don't know how to relax, that
I am always doing multiple things at once!

Yes, turquoise---so compelling. If I were to walk
into a room filled with huge panels of color
I would be drawn to the blue-green.

      Soft voice---hmmmmm....teaching art, directing
summer theater...I do have a range!!! But the
voice of choice...well, I feel soft and gentle
      accomplishes the most!!!

And I can see you awash in color...selecting
the mood of the day. And this I see in your words.

Came back to visit this -- yes, that's it -- these words are describing some of what I've seen with fractals. (See some examples here http://www.youtube.com/user/fractamania ) : )
    • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you for the link, PJ.
I an always fascinated by such magnetic images.

      Your interest in these denotes
      your descerning eye, your obervance
      of color effects.

      Whoa, still going in circles.

The experience was enhanced by listening to
the CD my Betty board friend made and
sent me of all the David Cook performances on Idol.
      An intelligent talent.

  • AHHH,

    I LOVE THIS ONE

    WHAT A BEAUTIFUL FLOW

    COLORS ARE INDEED SO SOOTHING.

    GOD BLESS...

    • Indeed, to feel awash
in a gentle, yet powerful hue...

      Take care, Pisces

your poem brings shivers to maa ...
it reminds her of a very particular spiritual experience she once had, blue light illuminating her bedroom one night - out of the blue, so to say ...
a shaman told me that my aura has the same color, turquoise-blue, at least most of the time ...
so, having perceived this blue light "outside myself" - it seems to be part of me, at the same time ...

thank you so much, dear one, another "thing" we seem to have in common ...

Rather like an out-of-body experience, maa,
perhaps both frightening and calming at once.

A peaceful colored aura indeed, speaking
of your ever-searching for knowledge, perhaps?

Hmmmmm....next subject may be automatic writing!

      I saw enjoy your insights.

Well done. Each stanza creates an ideal meditative mood, strikes a balance meditative tone...with rhyme both structurally valid and a subtle addition to the sense of calm and quiet.

Saturated with your soothing color pallet. Ahh, my birthstone. Ahh, calming, soothing indeed -- light and luminous -- turquois and aquamarine.

      So pisces, March? Or December?
      Blue and green stand alone
      in their beauty, but when
      united shine unsurpassed
      in the blue-greens.

December -- half man/half bull. But the turquois gleem, the aquamarine, paints me in a better light!

the clear thinker---guided by gem light!!
          So true of you, PJ.
  • The author not helped, wish more people did that.

The colors, I mean how you described them is what makes this poem work. The language: "bathed, illuming, grooved, ripples, etc" and the last two lines are simply beautiful...just slides off the tongue. I'm going to be walking around repeating that all day now...like a song that gets stuck in my head....

"calmed in mind by colors pristine
    soothing turquoise and aquamarine"

I'm going to be angry with you at the end of the day, lol

Keystone, I hope not---about the angry!

But pleased to be circulating in your head
      in such good company!

The words just wanted to be heard,
      expressing my love of turquoise,
and my need for calm, spilling out
      in rhythmic form!

      I appreciate your discovering them
and turning them around in repetition!

Mind of their own, those "s" words,
but as they flew from the keys
      my subconscious was asking me.
      "You started with "saturated,"
so how do you build from there?"
But the one concept I retained
      from high school economics class.
      the principle of satiety,
      came to mind!

      Thank you, loper.

A saline ocean flows over the sponge of the brain, providing nutrients, mingled with body fluids, creating electrical synapses that generate endorphins to calm and bring peace to one's soul.

colors can move the mind to a painting of life far beyond reality. They say that the color pink in prison cells and institutions has a massive calming effect on the inmates and wards of state, perhaps turquoise would be another good choice, lovely poem, i could see the colors floating between the lines. ~~Artis

      I luxuritate in your explanation!
Hadn't thought of pink that way,
but I remember a news piece about
      prison inmates wearing pink jumpsuits.

I have been seeking "calm" by many paths.

Thank you fo bringing more meaning to the concept here.
