Violent death
Summer leaves fearing the Autumn winds
Steal from me a moment
a whisper
a smile
a kiss
Before the chill of death demands
That I admit the lie
Snowflakes dancing on fallen leaves
Wooden bough's weeping
Sad and tired
the liar grieves
I desire faith
I am afraid I will betray
Beautiful eyes
You are my demise
Because even though we told the truth when we said
"till death do us part"
My heart screamed "NO!"
Wicked whisper in my ear
Your voice
tickling the air in my lungs
You know
You see the lies in my eyes
You are...
melting ice cream on the tongue
dizziness on a merry-go-round
naps on the sofa in the late afternoon
movies in the theaters, your lips tasting like popcorn
waking to the smell of your husband cooking you breakfast
huddling under the covers with a flashlight and a bible
holding each other when we cry
holding our children in our arms
letting our children go
growing old and crazy together
death
death cannot have you
I don't like to share
My God has conquered your greedy hands
Author notes
A bit spiritual. But I am who I am and not who others might wish me to be. An understandable sentiment I hope...
