In this life,
Which came first
The question or the answer?
Another night,
Who chains the slave
The music or the dancer?
Give me a sign
Are you as lost and vain as I have suspected?
Make up your mind
Stay or fade away like all the truth you have rejected ;
In your life
You have laid a false foundation to keep your path safe,
In your eyes
I see the walls you built to keep all the pain at bay,
But sometimes
You drift too far away into the disconnected,
Living the lie
You lost all the innocence you thought it protected ;
In your illusion of painted skies,
Tell me how high will you fly,
The sweet delusions you drink like wine,
Drunk on the absinthe of your own disguise,
Mythic maestro to a chorus of dreams,
Pout and bow to the praises they sing,
In a fabled ascension you'll rise in release
To far away stars on those plastic wings,
In the spotlight of your shadow,
You are blinded by it's glow,
Self addiction to your own reflection,
A counterfeit angel with a neon halo ;
Searching, hurting, taking, waiting,
You're running in circles, thirsting, debating,
Crying, hiding, freezing, shaking,
You're lost in that fire, steaming, baking,
No time for answers, healing or caring,
Long denied questions, bleeding, sharing,
When will the clock stop, drifting, reminding,
A slave to the tick-tock, dying, denying ;
In the illusion of your shadows,
Flying blind within their glow,
The delusion of your own reflections,
Just counterfeit angels with neon halos,
Burning out :

Wow, love this...
Compelling narrative with a rhythm that builds tension in its pace & flow with a great rhyme scheme throughout that reflects thoughts with clarity in a manner that seems almost like a chatty ramble that makes it more personalised when read...
Another fantastic piece...
Well done!!!

You're too kind. Thanks much for the insightful analysis. It's always a thrill to take in the thoughts of another artist on a piece of work, to see it through their eyes and from their perspective.

This is just... stunning. It took my breathe away. I like how you showed this "angel", as a fake one. That has built up walls, to keep people and pains out. THanks for ententering and being patient.
