Another's Skin
When I, on YouTube, spotted Heather Mills
McCartney I knew the film would give me chills
Expecting some scandal, gruesome and poor
I still got much, much more than I bargained for
She showed film of a Chinese fur farm, keeping
Animals in cages, leaping, leaping, leaping, leaping
Then they dragged them out
And knocked them on the head
Sometimes they were still alive
And sometimes they were dead
But either way their skin was ripped
Immediately with slits at paunch and wrists
And quickly torn off of each screeching beast
I guess the body went to feed its friends, no waste
Of time or meat in an efficient farm
For the cheapest coats to keep the western public warm
Warning: Those with weak stomachs will find them disordered
By real harm to real animals as the film was recorded
The YouTube link
Will you be buying the coats?
Not a popular presenter; not a popular subject but she uses her notoriety to good purpose, I think.
Skin Problems
What gave darkness such a bad name?
In the dark, perhaps, or at the moment of liberation
Skin colour has no meaning
All Grey. Lost
The disadvantage of black
The embarrassment of white
All brothers
In the Dark.
In the cold light of day
Each nuance counts
The auto-classification system
Bred into the rainbow nation
The legacy perpetuated
By every action necessary to remove it
Can any skin ever be
More equal than another?
Love on the Way
(Working Title)
Falling in love
A hundred times each day is
About
Beauty that makes you catch your breath
About
Hair and clothes and image
The twist of a lip
The twitch of a smile
About
Moving out of your comfort zone
And speaking to
Strangers on the Underground.
But then you remember
That you don’t need to do anything
Thank God
It’s only skin deep.
