give me a moment of madness
a delirious dream deferred
for if sonnets of sorrow and sadness
can intone for a poet interred
then I am a waste of a wishing
intelligence only inferred
grant me a golden gardenia
a fabulous floral bouquet
to touch on a tombstone in Quenya
my doom undeterred by delay
for who could forget foreign fishing
for the coveted compliment's say
take from me terror and torment
inspire me in endless intrigue
master me just for a moment
linger here long 'til I leave
celibate save for the kissing
gallant and gracious I grieve
tell me a tale of a tutor
pretend my pretension's a plot
if ever I envy a suitor
suffice it to say to me stop
married to what I've been missing
ruining my ramblings to rot
and now a querulous question
specialty stumper deluxe
is meaning inherent in mention
of a carnivore chicken that clucks
or have I succeeded in scribing
a defenestration of ducks?
What do you think it means?

An interesting peice
Of denial and maybe loss it's what you bring to the plate that matters most.

-
Who cares about the meaning? It's Delicious, and I just love the meter

-
damifino
...but I sure like the meter, rhythmn, and intrigue.
Extremely well written & I feel humbled w/out feeling stupid. 'write on.

Different but Thought Provoking
My first impression was that the writer was high on something, but as I read on I became intrigued in the way that the writer had interpreted certain actions or thougts in his/her life. Would love to read more from this writer. -

i love the flow, the usage of words, the perfect rhyming...
everything...
hey, especially these lines:
take from me terror and torment
inspire me in endless intrigue
master me just for a moment
linger here long 'til I leave

I like the rythms very well.

amaising!!!!!!!!
Your rhymes were so perfectly chosen that I had to go back and look at the structure to see your rhyme scheme...it is so subtle, and that is hard to come by. The alliteration was also very pleasing and not too overdone. There were so many poetic devices used here. This poem is now one of my favorites. I have a question the second line where you mention a dream defered...is that an allusion to Langston Hughes?

-
-
Thank you for your comments. Yes, that was a reference to Langston Hughes on the second line, although to be honest, part of the point of this poem was that writing doesn't always have as much depth as people like to attribute to it.

I absolutely love this write!! Full of imagery and interest.
"grant me a golden gardenia

Probably my favorite stanza
Thanks for sharing the beautiful write! -
a strong piece of the poetry revealing the inner story of your muwse ..I love the strong immagery indeed....

interesting indeed...
"I don't feel that sonnets mean anything to a poet whos dead, it wastes time to write them. Instead let me put some flowers on the grave, and give me some compliments. You're helping me to get through this, please comfort me as i grieve. Teach me something I need to hear, break down my empty words. But now the question I ask you, does this poem have meaning? or have I just written nonsense?" - this is what I think it might mean, however it is very confusing. I had to jump on dictionary.com a number of times to help me through it but i'm not sure if i got it right.
Another question though - on the fourth line - did you mean intone, or atone? cause intone seems to make about as much sense as throwing a duck out the window...
I liked the write though.
please tell me if that was indeed what it means!

-
wonderful.
This is incredible. simply one of the best pieces i have read here in a long time.

-
Your rhyme is stupendous
The lines flow together very well. May have been written in a fever, but it's a gem. >pixxie<
