A sanguine air overtakes the land
And, there, eleven home warriors stand
The opposing side takes their place
And the Vikings line up, face-to-face
With a sudden rush the clash begins
As spectators watch with sadistic grins
The Vikings attack their unworthy prey
And victory is theirs come end of day
The crowd rushes in and bear their heroes raised
The champions are honored and repeatedly praised
The losers hang their weary heads in shame-
The Vikings have won their football game

I like the suspense factor to this, it captivates the reader. And I love how you reveal that it's a football game in the end. Well done. Best wishes and thanks for entering.

This is decent, I love it all even though I'm not a big football fan anymore. You were very clever in keeping the obvious part hidden till the very end. Not sure if it's what I'm looking for, we will see. but it is still good!
