My Closet

My closet,
my secret place,
is my favorite place in the world.
I crawl under the bottom shelf,
and it welcomes me with a comforting hug
and doesn't let go until I decide to leave.
No matter how I'm feeling,
whether it is happy, sad, frustrated, or overwhelmed,
it's always there
with open arms.
and when I'm not there,
it waits, patiently,
for me to return.
My closet,
my best friend,
will always be there to listen.

Author notes

My closet really is my favorite place to just sit and think. This actually started out as and English assighnment, we had to use personification with something that comforts us. So...I turned it into a poem!

It really is good. Like whisper said we all need our own little place where we need to just think and get away from other things that bother us. Again great write.

I like this; it's very distinctive. Made me wonder who was writing. Perhaps a child? Or maybe a cat. Someone small who likes to curl up.

It's great how you can use something like a school assignment and come out with this. I love this poem and all. I can relate, but I'm not sure it's what I need. I'll see.

I think that with more interesting word choice this could have been a lot better. I found it a little bland.

Nice one... personifying the solitude into an object which understands the feeling. I wonder if the closet has a voice recorder or whatever, just in case you need a comforting word.

    Not bad ...

although it won't place here. I've got some really good entries and there are only 3 trophies.

Good luck with the other contests.

    Loved this.

The whole idea of hiding in the closet when the world's too much is brilliant.

But I'd have to remove this; pre-written poems are not allowed for this option.

    ly write though...x
