Told you that in order to move on,
You couldn't stay in the past:
The only thing is
That in order to know where you're going,
You have to know where you've been...
But sometimes
Knowing nothing is better
Than knowing at all.

Very confusing, but I kind of get it, in a twisted, confusing kind of way. I agree with you though most definately, you need to know where you have been, to even begin to understand where you are heading...
