I feel myself diminishing
Fading day by day
Every option had a choice
But I just looked the other way
-
choosing to ignore,
Choosing not to see
Pretending not to know of pain
When death is surrounding me
-
Bombs that keep on falling
Screams that never end
You feel so lost, you feel so sad
For all the hurt you cannot mend
-
This world, a raging war zone
In war the children cries
But can we ever stop the slaughter
If we keep on listening to your lies?
When I look upon our world today
It kind of makes me sad
Why does we keep fighting wars
Bound to end up bad?...
Author notes
I let my mind wander off
This was what it came up with
hope it makes you think...

Well I thought the rhyming scheme was really nice, and your write pointed out some interesting topics and questions. It really fits great with your title. Because truly, this is a World At War. There is no true peace here...
"Pretending not to know of pain
When death is surrounding me"
There were many a stories in The Things They Carried, where the soldier just could not focus on the war... because he wasn't involved, it wasn't where he wanted to be. He was so absorbed with the life he left behind.
-Thank you for your entry, Angi Terese -
A great piece and thought-provoking.
A very sad piece indeed. Brings to mind the story of the man who kept turning the page of of his newspaper, or turning the tv off, not wanting to see or hear what was going on in the world, until they came for him. By that time he had no voice. No one to listen to his pleas. We are very good at ignoring what is in front of our very eyes.
Your piece brought this to mind. It also brought to mind the 'Age of Aquarius'. The Age when 'Enlightenment' will eventually hold sway. When the old world order will move away from wars.
A shift in the psyche of Man. A shift away from wars as a way to solve disputes. Instead there will be talks, peace, a worldwide peace, in which nations brothers and sisters will gather together. 'Enlightenment' will reign.
You have written well here.
All the best
Wayne Leon
