The Orphen

The Orphen

The gentle breeze of winter chills my bones,
Eyes begin to water so I close them,
And breathe in the cool fresh air.

Walking down the street all bundled up,
From head to toe,
Still quite cold.

Passing by a house I look inside,
I see a christmas tree all sparkly and shining,
My eyes seem to light up and so does my heart,
Warmth fills my body as I see a family around the fireplace,
All snuggled up in a blanket drinking warm cocoa,
And laughing merrily.

I never really had a home or parents,
To find happiness and peace is what I wish for,
I walk away from the window and continue on my way,
When I reach an old building I fall asleep on the stairs,
Thinking that someday I will be with god,
As my eyes close and I drift off to sleep.

By morning the boy is found frozen to death,
"Poor child he was seeking shelter from the cold",
"Why is he smiling" asks an elderly woman,
"His wish has come true, he is finally with god".

I agree with Pingwen, how do they know his wish? I know you know but it doesn't quite make sense that these random people who found him know what he was thinking. Loved your description though, and it was very vivid in my mind as I read this. Orphan though has an a in it but don't worry about it. I spell things wrong all the time, even my own name! Thank you for your sweet entry!

I like the theme, but how do they know what his wish was?
