Nothing For This Heart [silver]

Missing image
Your fingers are now phantoms
touching my skin-
I grasped but I couldn't hold on...

The scent of you fills every breath
and the lonliness has just begun-

You slid into my crevices
like an understated miracle-

Doused a ring of fire with flesh
as cool as a running stream,

and I listened for your name
between the sounds of sighs
and slapping skin, that echoed off
these motel walls... it must have
disappeared, as smooth as silk-

Leaving only tender spots
around a gaping wound
and nothing for this heart-

This piece is worth of many long, savoring pauses, and re-reads.

Is it not striking how physical love reaches in and strokes hearts... electric penetrations and receptions ... yet there is the void of longing, the tensions between choice and reluctance ----.

This is special, and very real Ithica. Because it is true.

It gives me that catching/sinking wind in the chest, making me stop and force breath deeper to try to fill what I know is a bottomless well. because I must.

"Your fingers are now phantoms I grasped but I could [not] hold ... The scent of you ... fills the loneliness ... [in]... my crevices... an understated miracle- ... Doused a ring of fire ... cool ...water... between the sounds of sighs .... echoed off...walls... disappeared,... Leaving a gaping wound ... and nothing for this heart- "

    I like this very much.

"Your fingers are now phantoms I grasped but I could [not] hold ...

that especially is the whole piece in a phrase.

    everything else...

with a concrete completion of love and touch once made, the listening between the sounds appears to become curiously hollow toward the end. gap standards fill a hole as they often tend to leave one simultaneously. well worded, Ms. Ica.

What a wonderfully erotic write... with such sad overtones... You touch all emotions and you do it so deftly that yhou "Leave only tender spots." Wonderfully done...

This is gorgeous... those kind of touches, the ones that leave fingerprints, are like ghosts when they are gone. this is a touching piece. Your wording is superb, and the image goes with this perfectly. Artist unknown? meaning the picture?

    WELL PENNED!!
