The sun is shining
not a cloud in sight, no one is whining
the day is not a bit hot, not a bit cold
the days will be this way for awhile, i'm told
theres a breeze that ruffles my hair
the day is bright, the day is warm, i havent a care
an apple tree by the lake
saying for goodness sake, some sit under me
so i prop my back against the bark
somewhere overhead, i hear a lark
staring across the sparkling lake, taking in the day
i realize i have with me, a piece of cake
then i thought a nice juicy apple should be in order
when one of the apples, big, juicy, and older
fell from the tree, with such suddenty
and landed on my head, without a said warning
and even though it isn't night
i see stars, and i haven't a fright
