To part our ways
You to your path
And I to mine
These few years together
Have been sweeter than any others
With laughter and joy
Sown in our hearts
But there comes a time
When two who know each other so well
Must part ways and say fare-thee-well
Though we part unwillingly
There shall come a time
When the same two hearts call to one another
To come together and live again
But till then dry your tears
Hold your head up high
It is only a farewell
Never a goodbye
We shall meet again
When the time is right
Do not despair or hold your sorrow
That will make parting all the harder
The heart does not forget
Though the mind may try
I bid you farewell
And leave you with a promise
That when two hearts
That knows one another so well
Call out to one another
To come together and live again
Our hearts again will know
Laughter and tears
Joy and sorrow
Happiness and fear
Till then I bid fare-thee-well
But never goodbye
Until we meet again
Wipe away your tears
Smile for awhile
As I bid you a farewell
But never a goodbye
Never a goodbye

I really like your poem. I hate saying goodbye to my friends even if its just for a day
what part would you like in my family? -

Thank you for your kind comment. I too find it hard to say goodbye to friends and family so often times I don't say goodbye, instead I'll say something like see you later or something simmilar.
I gues I would be an older sister or cousin. -
-
yeah, I say see you later too or just shorten it down to bye
You can be my older sister or cousin, I dont mind

I love the emotion. But I could never part with my lover and come together again later... I'd rather just deal with the distance and keep the relationship continuous.
(That said, your poem's probably the more realistic scenario).

Thank you for your comment.
When I wrote this I was kind of playing around with losing the one you love due to death and coming back together again in another life time but it can also apply to if you find someone who you really love and end up breaking up and then having to deal with the seperation or if you have a loved one who has to leave for like the military or something.
But again thank you for your comment.
