Grains

We are as a grain
of sand in the Sahara,
our massive dunes surround,
smothering wills while
destructions looms.

But can't we see
the beauty or find the heart
to take that one grain;
add it to another,
and build each other ?

We must gather
our grains, use them
as stepping stones,
to create a free world
where hunger and hate
are past, and love is long.

I like the metaphor. Indeed, human beings are but grains of sand in the grand scheme of things. One grain added to another can do so much more than one single piece. I really like this. Keep writing. You have talent.

    Love

Grain makes for a nice metaphor; the second stanza was my favorite. : )

You are so true! Nowadays this kind of wisdom is rare but I can feel it growing!

    'We are as a grain
    of sand in the Sahara,
    our massive dunes surround,
    smothering wills while
    destructions looms.'

I loved the first line! It set me up for the big picture! Beautifully done!

This is great in the most beautiful way. It displays not only love but the underlying thought that we are mortal and fading. You have a way obviously of displaying love and the interaction between people that goes beyond the normal day to day. I would guess that at heart you are a romantic? The building of the sand dunes is a wonderful visual. RC

In general, I liked this but I wondered about 'our' dunes, if an individual is a grain of sand how can the dune be made up of the person, or didn't I understand? but on the whole, really nice.

Our dunes is a reference to we.. meaning all the grains together make the dunes.. each person's grain.. added together. I hope that helps. Thank you for reading and your thoughful comments. Blessings. Debby

this was beautiful and amazingly inspiring. i wonder where you got the idea for this? it's absolutely beautiful. i love how you didn't try to rhyme everything just let the words flow because the result was even more eloquent. very well done.

      Beautiful

Thank you so much. Actually, the idea came while I was watching idol gives back. I was looking into the faces of people who need so much and ask for so little and thought about how beautiful it would be if we all joined together.. what we could do. Again, thank you for your lovely comments. Blessings. Debby

    Nicely done.

Grains of sand likened to the stars in the sky,
countless, yet unique when viewed one at a time.
If everyone could visualize the good that should be done to all of mankind, what a world we would have!

What a great way of looking at us - each a grain of sand, yet when pooled together can form stepping stones to greater things. Liked the flow, and the message you share here.
