Looking down into
his soon-to-be watery grave.
Staring Death in the eye,
hearing church bells as he gazes.
What confusion lies behind
those deep blue eyes?
What sorrow
caused this him to contemplate?
What scene
would cause him to die?
How could I mend that split soul,
that heart that lies in two?
But I tried.
I see the newly aroused interest
flash deep within his dulled eyes.
One promise.
That's all it took.
For what confusion, what sorrow, what scene
would cause him to die?
