I can see things with my eyes
but they are only surface things.
Eyes can be deceiving
but the heart doesn't lie
the heart tells the truth.
I know you're my true friend
I know I can trust you
I know I can rely on you
I know I can believe you
I know it in my heart.
Sometimes though
I don't listen as I should
and I say things
that hurt
but true friends forgive.
So I know you're my friend
because you stick by me
I know by your actions
not just your words
or your eyes.
Truth isn't found in the human gaze
it's found in the human heart.
