Flights of Fancy

For generations, since prehistory,
Lives rising symbolise the soul’s redemption.
In flights of fancy all religions mention
Gesture rites to set bright spirit free.
Here’ and ‘now’ mean little.  Ecstasy
Takes man’s kaa beyond mundane convention
Seeking enlightenment where apprehension,
Or instinct’s fears, dissolves, and where ‘to be’
For once is not an empty phrase. ‘To see’
For once may stand for inner comprehension,
Adds up to enlightenment’s obtention –
Never can be gift hereditary.
Create within your mind that freedom where
Your soul discovers flightpath through fresh air.

    Such a good read

This was a great poem. It gives the reader a lot to think about.

Create within your mind that freedom where
Your soul discovers flightpath through fresh air.

Great closure to an awesome poem. Keep up the good writing; I'll be looking forward to reading more from you.

    awesome

great read. i was on the edge of my seat. (okay maybe the rim but it was still pretty good) you were not only creative when it came to the wording but it also spelled the title along the side if you were to ask me if there was anything to change i would say nothing

This is very clever and totally awesome!
While the background is somewhat distracting...I do like it mind you, just am more for the monochromic plain backgrounds...
The poem still has merit for its thought out delivery

Jonathan , congratulations on the well deserved silverI was brought to a re-birth of some sort [or maybe it speaks of what really is at the core of it all [us] and we are oblivious to that which it tells us [for if not....then re-birth would be un-necessary for we would dwell deep enough for where the answers lie hidden behind facades of what we believe to be truth. But Irtsha learned early by the grace of a wonderful woman who fortunately was able to teach me at a very young age. Of course , sometimes by choice I ignored those teachings-but usually do come back by choice as well,

much like desire, who was seeing totem-animals while reading your piece, I was capturing scenes associated to shamanic rituals ... some sort of ritual where mind-altering substances are taken and trance is induced ...
it brought me to india as well, where I saw those who are striving for spiritual experiences of bliss, yet not for freedom from the attachment to physical senses and mind ... the true meaning of awakening ...

"‘Here’ and ‘now’ mean little" ... indeed, human mind loves to dwell in the illusive mind-castles he creates ... at the exclusion of "what is" ...

you're a sharp observer, and a valuable mirror to us all ...

    Thank You!!

Thank You for Your entry: Flights of Fancy
This piece tugged at Spirit and I for some reason kept seeing images of Totem Spirit Guides~

    I was seeing a (brown)bear, (white)owl and deer-fawn...
Read Your piece several times and kept getting the same images...
Interesting enough I featured the deer on my page this week...but was seeing the fawn while reading Your words
    ~~

    These lines grabbed and pulled~
Takes man’s kaa beyond mundane convention
    Seeking enlightenment where apprehension
Or instinct’s fears, dissolves, and where ‘to be’
For once is not an empty phrase. ‘To see’
Magnificent take on the prompt with fine form~

Thank You for sharing Your Heart also Spirit!
Best wishes to You in the contest Sweet Soul
    **Judging will be done shortly...
    Many blessings too
    and much love~ Desire~*~

    Flow ...

at its finest cannot be comprehended unless one is its participant. Your poem describes flow well. I would like to say your plain background and art work allows one to appreciate the words. Thanks for the ease. joy

well that must be some form of synchronicity! I just added a poem about dragons and the phoenix!
I really enjoyed this, I will google kaa, as I am uncertain about the 'astral double' though I think I have an idea of its meaning. I like the rhyme scheme, it flows easily and presents such a broad range of philosophy with understandable simplicity.
