I want the happy ending,

Our souls will communicate on a much higher level.
I want the romantic proposal,
I want that secure feeling
That “you’ll never leave me” feeling.
And for some reason
It’s just not there.
I want there to be no doubts
That you are it.
No questions that need answers
No lies that you claim as truths.
I want forever
And the lives after that.
The lifetimes upon lifetimes
You know, that soul mate.
I want that.
I thought it was you,
I wanted it to be you,
But none of that is turning out right.
We’re not right.
I want to wake up
With a smile every morning,
Go to bed
With no heaviness in my heart.
I want to feel no resentment
Towards you and all the things
That were promised
Once upon a time.
I want what I deserve.
I want the fairy tale.
