She cuddled the phone to her ear
as though it was the most precious thing in the world
as she lightly twisted her foot
and softly giggled
smiling so much it hurt.
"Baby everything is going right for me"
she told her unseen lover
"Thats wonderful honey"
He said back
and she could hear the smile in his voice
"I dont have a grade lower then a "B"
I'm going to college
the college I dreamed of
I have amazing friends
I have amazing parents
I have it all..."
but her voice trailed off
the smile slowly disappeared
as she looked at the ground
pausing
the hair falling into her face
"Sweetheart, whats wrong?"
His voice felt worried
and filled with concern
She took a deep breath
but her voice still trembled
"I have everything
but it feels like I have nothing
because I dont have you"
She held the phone closer to her face
almost pressing it into her skin
as if it would make him feel closer
make him feel...
real....

The love of my life lives 400 miles away. I have established that in other poems. We see each other maybe once or twice a month... Everytime we see each other, to me its surreal that this is the guy i talk to every day for 5 hours a day... this is the guy im maddly in love with and can tell everything to over the phone, how i want to marry him and be with him yet when im physcally in his arms, i cant say it, im scared he will reject me and deny the fact he may want to marry me too... Hes too perfect for words and sometimes he really just doesnt feel real... i love him so much... how did i ever get that amazing of a guy??
