Theirs rules broke other rules
The rules of mankind
She was kept in the shadows
Watched her mother sink in fear
She took on roles although just a child
as her mother was supposed too
an Aunt helped her from the shoadows
after being betrayed by a lust
she had mistaken this lust
as LOVE
Then a love apeard in the light of the shadows
and she had fallen deep within him
she had given him herself
her whole self
the sweet smell of his breath
as she sunk deeply into his warm and strong arms
and was pulled back into the shadows
buy a rough and burning hand
the smell of Johnnie WB on his breath
her father seen no part of her
other then the punching bag
he had used her for
a small accident
quickly grew into gossip
he came to save her
but the rough hand quickly swiped the love away
the child no more
she had nothing to do but to perish
Author notes
This poem was written after reading the book Burned by Ellen Hopkins. It is about a young Morman girl who lives with an abusive alcoholic father and then when she finds real love it is taken away and no one can get it back.
