Society, you are my cash cow.

Today
Nothing is real
Everything an organized charade
We are paid
In cash and societal acceptance
We smile but are conscious that we build our own cage.

We play at political correctness
and pray for acceptance.
The same people we hate
we want to curse in public but we wait
We live in a state
of perpetual darkness and unknown fates.
We realize now that we fell for the bait,
but it's too late.

We are now lost
Our souls corrupt
We have paid the cost
Now our conscious erupts.

We notice the injustice of the disadvantages souls
and Worms of prejudice and misplace guilt burrow holes
in our spongy rotten hearts
Kindness is a lost art
Revered but unpracticed
Spiteful and selfish we roam the earth
Gluttonous and full, feeding on the mirth
Of fallen souls and lost bosom friends.

Powerful, bold, and fast-paced. You explore so many facets of our rotten and vile society, and yet you do so in a way that preserves your own elegance and integrity as a writer. You are on the outside looking in, and yet you are in the prefereable place. Well done!!

Best of luck and thanks for entering!

Agreed. It was a little sickening there. Thank-you very much.
