Seeking faith searching scriptures
in fine print no answer the same.
In spiritual confirmation
the Father's prophet's call came.
Finding what they had prayed for
determined to join their heart
on wagon, horseback or foot
with families women depart.
Leaving farm or city manor,
or even country of birth;
all followed the prophet's call
leaving home for celestial worth.
Evil stalked towns and byways,
jealousy stole sweat's wage.
Escaping masked mobs of murder
they ran into desert sage.
Leaving burials in footsteps,
hearts cry broken in the night,
but stand stalwart in the fields
planting crops by day's light.
Each sister has her own story,
in a journal kept close by.
Within a tale of confirmation
of a faith that would not die.

A lovely piece however, it does not adhere to the contest specs of rhymed couplets. Nice nice poem thugh with a great story. ~Pamela
