Once In Springtime..

She is said to have walked in those paths
Where white blooms border the raspberry fields,
Clad in the finest silks of satin yellow
And a face, as fair as the diamond's glow
Eyes, sparkling with sapphire's hue,
Tear stained cheeks like the rose flowers' dew..
A passing child, with awe might say
'She's like that fairy, escaped from tales..'

A beauty was she, strolling with ease
Amidst the fields of ripened raspberries
With the breeze behind to caress her curls
Braided loose with a string of pearls,
She walked with grace, careful and slow
Her topaz gown in a cadent flow..

The passing folks watched her spellbound
There was none who knew her, nor seen her before,
They knew not the tale behind her gloom
They've heard she visits when raspberries bloom,
Once in springtime, she strolls, they say
When the skies turn pink, she walks that way..

A lovely tale and very nice imagery. I like the almost haunting flow as the stanzas glide slowly into each other. Smooth and sweet as raspberries!

This is so hauntingly beautiful. I could picture the scene so clearly, and the mood. An excellent write! Congratulations on the Bronze.

It's an anonymous contest so I can't be certain but I'd say the content here matched the poet rather closely.A lovely softly rhymed and flowed poem that works completely for me.

I love this! I've always enjoyed those fantasy stories that border on reality just enough to make you wonder... and you did a great job of that. It's a beautiful write :-)

oh my...this is very beautiful...you've painted an exquisite and elegant scene of a woman in springtime...surely painters would agree to me because of your lively and rich images...this is very captivating indeed!
