Freedom

"Go on, Free"
This is said whenever I let my dog out
At the cold, darkest hour of the night
While the stars twinkle through the soft mist
When the words suddenly echo through the air

Go on, Free
Suddenly, I was yearning for those words
To be releasing me to live my life with ease
To be free, of the frustrating stress within daily life
But what is it really like, to be "Free"?

Go on, Free
With a click of life’s chain, would I be sent out?
Into the darkness, on my own, without a care?
Would I be happy with my blindly guided freedom?
Or terrified for the sudden pit of loneliness?

Go on, Free
To be truly, Free.. is something I long for
To sleep without fear of waking in the night
Crying out for help and shivering against my sheets
To be... truly... fully... free...

"Go On"

"Free"

Author notes

To be Free... not like Americans don't have enough freedom, but I'm not talking about that kind of freedom. I'm talking about the freedom you feel when you're running through a prairie, soaring through the sky with your heart pumping and your soul finally screaming out with all your heart, "FREEDOM! AT LAST!"

Please tell me what you think thank you!

made me think of the good old Mel Gibson movie 'Braveheart'. "They can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom!" (Mel Gibson as William Wallace).

Metaphorically, structurally, compostion wise...all sound and fits together well, nothing bad to say about it at all.

Freedom...yeah I wish I could experience that kind of freedom...but they are very rare and don't round too often for me unfortunately.

Great poem, I like this one a lot =] another good write, keep them coming, you're a great poet!
