The lone bird cries in solitude
the shrill sound pierces my very soul.
Abandoned, crying in deep despair
hush, hush little bird, go back to sleep,
dawn is not yet here.
Hush, hush little bird, you cry alone
caress my heart with loneliness
caress my heart with pain
Alone you cry in silence,
deep, deep silence from within
alone, alone, in your darkest hour
has death touched you too?

Such emotion, such sadness but even then, you are reaching out to another living creature with concern for their pain too. My heart goes out to you and anyone who knows the agony of losing a child. May your faith hold you together.

TOUCHING
How you touch the very core of ones soul with this metaphoric piece. Though very lonely and sad, it is also true. Very well written and though the subject is not one people find pleasant, it is a reality of life. If not for those lonely moments in life we may not appreciate the ones we love as much. Thanks for posting and may God bless.

this poem is really sad and quite symbolic. What a comparison...on one hand the beauty of a bird's twirp on the other hand the pain the bird must feel twirping alone. Lonliness is one of the must painful feelings...We want to feel connected to one another and it is so hard when a loved one dies it feels like we have lost them forever. We just have to believe that God will take care of them and hold them in His heart.

DEEPLY HEARTFELT!!!!!
Your sincere words just brings tears to ones eyes.
The lonely call of a solitary bird can sound so sad.

Thank you for your comment
This poem was written in 1992 when after a long and painful illnes my first born child, my beloved daughter died from cancer aged 26 and left behind a seven year old son. I used to wake whilst it was still dark, and I would hear it, the shrill lonesome cry of the lone bird crying as my heart broke.
Hence The Lone Bird one of many poems I wrote and called The In Loving Memory Collection, Dedicated to all Our Loved Ones.
Safe and Free from Pain
They'll live and Smile again
Goodnight but Never Goodbye.....

And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes,
and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry nor pain be anymore the former things have passed away.
And the One seated on the throne said: "Look! I am making all things new." Also he says "Write for these words are faithful and true." Revelation 21:4,5.
