The Soul Savior

The difference between light and the darkness
Knowing that the light is saved by you alone
You are the soul savior of light from the darkness
You know that without your endurance
The lightened sky would be no more

You stand on the corner of the street
The soul savior of the light
And you don't know any reason why you should stand any longer
Who thanks you for everything you do?
And then you remember what it means for you to remain...

Remaining on that street means the saving of the light
Keeping the calamity of the dark at bay
You, the savior of the light, are what people look outside to see
Without you, what can be seen around the darkened sky?
And you hold your head up higher knowing you are needed

Mm, good take on the prompt. I like how you've personified the streetlight into a sort of guardian. Well done.

Great personification of the streetlight -something I would of never thought of doing. Also, you present such wonderful imagery. I felt you were attempting to create a sort of story for the streetlight- almost a battle to uphold the light and keep the darkness at bay, but I felt it lacked a bit of subjectivity. This streetlight stays very static in the reader's mind and doesn't seem to make any form of movement to prove that it is the "soul savior." Perhaps, it needs a bit more tweaking, adding a little more emotion and presenting different viewpoints on the streetlight.
Otherwise, this poem is extremely solid and states its claim on the appropriation of the prompt. Cheers on a job well done and good luck in the contest.
