It's the pauses in life that gives us flavor
The seasonings that's hot with true spice.
It's our tears that make up nature's gravy
and the hurts that are often off the cuff.
Like the time when you knew you saw two,
but your boyfriend said your eyes were impaired.
So your throat grew two sizes in measure..
and you were left with his lone lie to treasure.
And what about the one you'd entrust with your life;
who paved the way for you with labor's painful sacrifice.
When she does double-takes, for goodness sakes
not a drop of sense will this ever make.
So you see it's our painful moments,
that tend to become our most dear...
though they plague us from distances immensely,
they're the things that in life are most clear.
Call them wake up calls; call them mourn-shop malls...
call them anything, but make sure you know-
that without them, you'd have no 'room' to grow.
