Sentinels of a long forgotten time
Watching all in their epic menagerie
As age’s alight in this eroding century
In wooden silence, they stand for all posterity.
Wind chipping away when era’s can not
Indigenous art that time forgot
Faceless figures of ancient creativity
Graceless marionettes of time’s comedy.
Standing in a field of verdant green,
Knowing what humans have left unseen.
In a lot overlooking a mountain
That laughs at youth’s fountain
Carrying its age with pride and grace,
Statues depicting their forgotten race.
Silent sentinels of wooden memory
Seeing all but speaking little to antiquity.

Although this piece is written on a prompt about statues, there is something very earthy and natural about the writing and the imagery that reminds me very much of trees.
Good write.

The figures in the picture were standing like sentinals at the base of the mountain. Thank you for your lovely entry. Juls
