Tell Me Why.

.
I read all of the papers and watch TV news,
amazed as the pollies give numerous views
and try to imagine what it’s like going to war,
fighting for freedom while ignoring the poor.

Soldiers reluctant to recall the horrors seen,
or discuss the places where they have been.
A river of money is endless like their blood,
mixed in distant countries’ dirt, making mud.

But the bloodshed persists in a steady way,
and battles are claimed to be won every day.
When will the maiming and killing finally end?
When we no longer have young men to send?

Will we then send the young fathers as well?,
so they can experience the revulsion of hell?,
and when they come home tattered and torn,
wishing to Heaven they had never been born.

I am but a mere mortal, so to me you must tell,
why existing for some is similar to living in hell.
Oh Dear Lord ! can you also explain to me why,
do those poor innocent children continue to die?

You say an eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth,
but no where do you ordain the killing of youth.
And the evil strut and conspire as always done,
thinking nothing of winning with the aid of a gun.

Sometimes I wonder if we have got it all wrong,
if the world is ruled ruthlessly by only the strong.
But regardless I invite you to please tell me why.
those helpless young children must always die.

.WAR IS HELL ON EARTH, AND CHILDREN SHOULD NOT BE INVOLVED.

I find it funny that the average human brain does not complete development until 21, yet were can sign our lives away at 18. In fact if it were no for our numerous children politicians would have to fight their own wars. It is because of these atrocities that we have members of our armed forces coming together to speak against the war crimes committed everyday by the U.S. against unarmed civilians. It is too great a sin to ignore. Thank you for this heart felt poem. ~Leah

This is very sad. It made me really think of all the children involved. And the visual really did shock me whenever the page loaded (but a good shock). The flow was amazing. My favorite part is:
"Soldiers reluctant to recall the horrors seen,
or discuss the places where they have been."
Because it reminds me of my Uncle's that were in World War Two, they never talk about it, they ignore all of the reunions that they've been invited to, and try to pretend like it never happened.
I do agree that children should not be involved in things like this, because they still have their whole lives ahead of them, and if it tramatized the soldiers, it sure must be tormenting the children. Beautiful write, it really helped open my eyes.

Thankyouu and good luck in my contest.

    -Dana.

    Urban warfare

Was only just recently taught to our guys starting in the late 80's. We as Americans hate it. Even the British of old took their wars to the outside if you will. But these new enemies of ours like to hide behind their children. They have been at war for so long that they are numb to it and insane about it. They don't fight by our rules & we will gave to get as bad as they are if we are to win. But alas, I fear no one will win this "Holy War."
Very emotional poem & the Pic just tore my heart apart.

"And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea." Mark 9:42

"Thou shalt not kill." Exodus 20:13

"But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." Matthew 5:39

You asked me whether the poem is blasphemous, Bazza. No, not in the slightest.

      Thank you Mairi.

Thanks Mairi, I don't have to stay indoors and worry about lightning strikes then ??? But honestly, thanks for the biblical references as that is a great way to reinforce the message in the poem and maybe help unravel the way things are here on Earth.
