Divided, now we think we stand,
Poor copy of what once had been,
Religiously we still say our prayers,
But are our hearts still true to Him?
The board that represents our lives,
We move the pieces as we will.
Meetings, fetes and feeling good.
Full of buzz, but rarely still.
A few miles back along the road
Our burden leans against a wall,
The heavy wood just seemed too much,
Speaking of forsaken call.
Oh the taste of poisoned honey!
How it smears our eager souls.
Apathy in all its glory!
While on the Cross we lose our hold.
Pause for a moment of your time,
Then in that instant turn around,
Looking up to heavens throne,
Where our life is truly found.
To God's word we now must cleave,
Laying all the world aside.
Cleansed by Jesus precious blood,
His perfect, Holy, spotless bride.
Author notes
This was written ages ago, but I want to try and get most of my writings on this site eventually. It is how I see much of the church.

I must ask if you have seen much of the church. Worldwide. While many could say this is a correct view and some cases it is, surely we cannot attribute this to the Church as a whole.
Yet still, a stirring piece this is. Because the heart of it is to be wholly and resolute in passion and service to Christ alone. And that is the matter at heart.
