It was such a lovely day for our trip,
the sun was shining and we let her rip.
Children huddled in quenchless expectancy;
When, where, and how - were the main three.
Who would have guessed the mountain would collapse,
leaving us all in a medley of maxed out total lapse.
The eerie feel of the quiet view; was all too much,
we huddled, cried, and calming ourselves with touch.
Looking around help was nowhere to be found,
there being absolutely nobody within miles around.
One would think it to be the end for us, and it was,
But, apparently God has us in mind and He gave us love.
For out of nowhere there appeared this stocky man.
He seemed so knowledgeable and he lent us a hand.
First relieving us of our tangled jail of a car,
then in an instant he was out of sight, by far.
We couldn't see hide or hair of him, where'd he go,
this puzzled our children, we couldn't say; we didn't know.
Time alone will maybe one day fully reveal,
who this man was, and whether or not he was real.

Such a thankful poem. Some heros seem to vanish into thin air. I felt the meter was excellent. Nice title. Rhyme scheme felt real. I'm certain the scene you have written has happened many times before. These people are unsung heros and our earth angels. LOvely take on the prompt. Thank you so much for entering my contest!
