With a dollar one can feed the hungry
from halfway around the world.
One can set the captives free
with just the right contribution

You can be a hero
or heroine
to ones who'll never know you.
And that is a good thing
a noble thing
Hard earned green
rumpled to fit
just inside
the neck of a bottle
cures cancer
diabetes, luekemia
heart disease, birth defects.
A five handed out
of the car window
feeds a homeless man
a clown's burger and fries
for one evening.
Clog his arteries.
Give him a caffeine rush
and a ketchup stain on his shirt.

I think I see your point here. We who can should just give a little, often. What I spend on petrol to go shopping would keep a family well fed for a week in some places I've been. Equality just doesn't exist. Well done.

The last stanza does seem to disagree with what you'd previously written though I think you were suggesting that we who are living well don't realize just how we could help, that if we forsook that greasy hamburger once in a while and donated to help the hungry we could make a world of difference. Point taken.
