Monday wakes early to remember Sunday

Missing image

To have seen Blake's 'Ancient of Days'
up close; personal-

and your hand entwined around mine
became a picture for the Book,
to be written for this day.

we savoured the moment:
united with subtle tenderness
and the eyes!

reflections of time
seeing what I saw,
we talked of colour and light
pose and text.

O' how majestic
to see into the eye of 'Ancients'
- Crane, Maddox Brown, Linnel and Blake
made the day
like Jerusalem.

"In England's green and pleasant land"

Author notes

quotation is from Blake's poem Jerusalem.

You have described a moment that was certainly sacred, I feel--especially when arms entwined together, and all the elements of art that is surely divine---

This is wonderful, and I adored how you ended this with the quote. Thank you for writing this work of art!

    Encouraging

"In England's green and pleasant land" a happy view point for one who deserves same. An excellent beginning to a new chapter in your book.

I love how the picture is pulling the poem. There is something about being right there in front of it -- isn't there. Art. With someone. Ahhhh.

I would nip and cut this back some -- for instance:

To have seen Blake's 'Ancient of Days'
    up close;

and your hand entwined around mine
became a picture for this days Book,

    we savoured the moment:

    reflections of time
we talked of colour and light
    pose and text.

    O' how majestic
to see into the eye of 'Ancients'

But that's just me. Good luck in the contest you. And send those submissions --we're now listed on duotrope and stuff is coming in!

Beautifully worded. I find your author notes unnecessary (lol) as it seems to me that the poem is more about the sharing than what was shared, if that makes sense?
    Fab title too, nice work.

I do understand, but the rules of the site, state to include the details of any pictures posted if source is known, plus as well as copywrite stuff, such as quoting others works.. so yeah, blah blah blah...

      but thankie Miss Lucy...

and yes, it was/is about the sharing of time and such and the human aspect

Indeed there is nothing quite like finding a treasure and sharing that with a spirit that is moved to view through the same prisms of delight. I loved the inclusion of " In Englands green and pleasant land" it reminded me of the song and yes, we do have a green and pleasant land, from the red soil of the West to the garden of England in Kent, for me that is artistry that is sacred and my sanctuary. Liked your Monday remembering Sunday!

    Yes, I was there!

Beautifully put and I can vouch for it, more than anyone else, other than yourself. Beautifully measured and en-capturing the time perfectly.
    Brilliant!

Blake and Shakespeare come in pair
    maybe Shakespeare was before
    but
you have to understand Blake's first
    to figure our Shakespeare

even if Blake is not Blake
    and Shakespeare is not Shakespeare
