Parting Time

Parting time-
A point in life to move on
Though the light I leave behind is so bright
Parting time-
A strike against what was
Though the beating of my heart asks me why
Parting time-
A moment taken in quiet
Though the walls that I broke down now rebuild
And now, to my dismay
I realize that I never wanted to leave
Even though it pains me so much to stay and see
To watch you slip away
From what I'd always hoped we'd be
To realize now how much I miss you
And how I wish I'd had the courage to tell you more
So at least then I could know for sure
Parting time-
A time I'd try to take back
Though in the end I wouldn't gain all that much
Parting time-
A step that I now wonder
Though I don't think that things would have changed
Parting time-
I just need you to see now
How much I cared underneath
I'd ask you to forgive me
But you don't have to say aloud
That there's no going back now
And in the end I hope you know
I miss you.
