her heart fell
one drop at a time,
not content
at being held to a standard
gray skies are ominous
if that's your perception,
for her it's the conundrum
of that same old song...
she lies,
cries,
tries,
and then gives in
because it's the convenient
thing to do
she hurts,
huddles,
shivering,
trying to avoid puddles,
and in the end
she survives
riding out the rainbows of despair
she finds her place and embraces it
