My Obstructing Thoughts

A sandstorm billowing sand
Brittle dust particles
Being thrust around.

My mind like a mirror
Its quivering eyes,
Groveling in the dirt,
Condoning what it has seen.

Too many churning thoughts,
Like a rock slide,
Unable to bring them,
To a brutal halt.

Each stone, every size
Beating each other,
With large knuckled fists,
Breaking bone particles,
Of my overcrowded
Relentless machine.

Silence them till speechless
Mute my thoughts now,
Hear my soul,

Calling me back to God.

Author notes

There is always so much going on all the time. We end up being our own distractions, and these distractions lead us away from God. Its so hard, but we must all learn how to be silent at times, those are the times where God speaks to our hearts.

True. The world has become a big distraction. Yet, as long as you can talk to God, it makes it bearable.

Oh knocking stones together...what a great image.... dust to dust indeed, and what is left when all we thought important is pulverized...I feel we have nothing but pure essence.
