Decisions between heart and head haunt.
One step either way, could lose sanity,
or begin ecstasy…
as she fights to hold on.
She has truth firmly held,
balancing who she is
in the face of a cynical world.
Yet, doubts and jeers of others
(and in her own mind)
make her walk this line,
convincing her that she is unsteady,
ready to fall.
But no...
self-doubt will not win,
she will continue to be who she is,
standing straight in virtue,
hoping an answer will soon appear.
Either way, she is prepared…
and her heart will win~
for without trusting love,
nothing else matters.

A nice poem about the struggle to fit in and to be accepted by yourself and others. Especially, as you mentioned, trust and love.
'Yet, doubts and jeers of others
(and in her own mind)
make her walk this line,
convincing her that she is unsteady,
ready to fall...for without trusting love,
nothing else matters.'
These were the lines which stood out for me.
Good luck and thanks for entering.

sometimes its so hard to walk the line. it takes faith and courage to keep on the path when you might not know exactly where it leads, and it gets tempting to to step away onto what might look like solid ground and try to find your own way, but that thin pathway is the only safe place to be, and its the only way to get to safety. EXCELLENT poem, AS ALWAYS!!! =D

It is so easy to lose sanity. I think I've lost mine for a while. Nicely written. Will try to check on your poems more often.

nice!
Just read the contest and saw the prompt and then your poem again. This is really a great write for the prompt. You have made the analogy of the decisions between the heart and the mind...what we know to be logical or emotional, as they rarely mix. You have chosen to "toe the line" with this piece and I think that is exactly what the prompt is all about. Great take!
