The Darkness of Light

Light is the carrier of beauty's gifts,
the medium by which we rightly see.
So, loveliness through nature's wonder lifts
our spirits by revealing verity.

Light is a loving fire that will not burn.
A tool of such immeasurable good.
For through its bright revealing beams we learn
and things once only shadows, understood.

Illuminated by these golden rays
are emptiness and wanton shallowness.
The hollowness of fake, controlling ways
and scenes of inexcusable distress.

Oh, cursed light why must you bring to me
the truth of things I never wished to see?

This is absolutely gorgeous... I am blown away by its truth and the beauty of your words... You have forged a mighty sword and whetted it razor sharp... Best of luck in the "Duel"

Those lines truly stood out to me! You paint a vivid web of thoughts, and I followed it intensely. It's very dark (funnily), and your words fascinated me. I'm impressed!

This sonnet is clever, well penned and sends mixed emotions. I think you are a light in my life.

    Love,

I think you are in a LIGHT mood! LOL

It is a matter of perspective, really.

What a wondrous write. Sometimes it is painful to see the revealing of our chosen ignorance. But eventually the truth is as beautiful as the purity it holds.

    Love

You are in a dark mood!
And this is a complex meter of yours that I like, some four syllable feet thrown in for good measure, that takes skill!
Lovely "modern" sonnet, thought provoking and well penned.
