Friendship is like Baseball

Friendship is like baseball in countless ways.
Where there are extra innings,
friends are going extra miles.
Baseball waits forbearingly
through every endless winter,
while friends are forever patient
through our seasons without end.
Baseball stands the test of time
as our culture changes constant to constant.
So also do our friends
see us through Life’s challenges.

It seems that with each passing year,
our lives become more obligated than the time before.
But when Summer finally finds its way back,
we’re tricked into believing that
Time is on our side to laugh and joke—
to share our hopes and dreams.

No matter where we go or where Life takes us,
we can always come back home to Summer and Baseball.
