Trapped in the chains
Of insecure control
She tries to dig herself
Out of this hole
Manacles bind
This woman in chains
They chafe so much
That she might go insane
She struggles for meekness
And dignity intact
Something she had
But has long since lacked
She'd better learn loving
And she'd better behave
She'd better learn loving
As he's made her a slave
She's beaten so badly
She sways where she stands
He makes her accept
The greatness of Man
He holds her inferior
His words hold her down
Her soul is shattered
Heart forced to the ground
Hopelessly weighed down
By eyes of steel
Deep in her heart
There are wounds time can't heal
So free her, so free her
And take away her pains
Help to release
The woman in chains
