If Only . . .

Missing image

Everyday you are there
I see you but cannot touch
I hear you but cannot speak.

I watch your every move
I long to do things for you
I long to do things with you.

You smile as you go by
You reach out to touch
You ruffle my hair..

I know you feel I am very young
But I cannot help responding to you
Puppy love is painful when you’re a dog!

Thanks for your comments Ahkam but surely love can also be much sweeter if one is not a dog? At least one hopes so.

Do you have a dog? It would seem that you appreciate these animals. At least in passing.
Interesting and humourous perspective in your write.

    Are you a dog lover?

Regardless, you are a truly empathetic soul. It brings to mind the feelings of devotion, rejection, desperation and loyalty. All words that define a dog.

Thanks once again for reading and writing.
I do like most dogs but my life style doesn't let me commit to one in particular. My schoolboy nickname was "Fred Bassett" after the famous cartoon hound

      Hi nice niece,
Yes I'm not a great one for "love" poems but that was what the contest asked for and I enjoyed twisting the tail (of the poem not the ) with this one.
