Your planet isn't feeling great;
your weather isn't temperate.
Your country must act to abate
your crimes against the natural state.
Your average people simply wait,
sure remedies won't come too late.
Your scientists might mitigate
your crimes, or just exacerbate.
Your postulators postulate
your futures in the aggregate.
Your activists all activate
your rabble, roused and made irate.
Your lawyers join the great debate;
your judges sagely contemplate.
Your representatives relate
your feelings to their running mate.
Your public leaders congregate.
Sure, time is short, but there's no date.
Your congressmen elaborate
your bills with pork for their home state.
Your governments rededicate
your dollars to ameliorate
your damage at too slow a rate:
your world is left to meet its fate.
Were it left to the legislature,
all we'd see is human nature.

Outstanding
This is well-written and articulate and you have achieved the near impossible with the rhyme scheme which must have been difficult. This poem is impressive and I liked the way you developed the theme. Congratulations on the trophy.

I detect an 8 theme here.

Congratulations on the sliver.

More of an 8-cher theme - I wanted everything to rhyme with "nature," but there wasn't a chance for carrying that for 20 lines as an end rhyme.

Excellent work. Mono-rhyme to beat all mono-rhyme in this and then that wonderful magical perfect couplet!
You nailed the contest specs. Well done. I did enjoy this very much.
