A note and a song of night's belong,
Their footfalls falling gently,
A sly prolong and a clock's old gong,
Their minutes not aplenty.
A call was loosed from the woman's old roost,
And the children took off intently.
The woman deduced and thus produced,
That she would be sad, lamently.
