When will I end the pain?
not my own, what I’ve caused
turned sunshine into rain
devastation on edge, poised.
Forgiveness only a dream
my own, it could never be
tears flow in two streams
both run into sorrow’s sea.
I will leave, end your pain
our happiness blown
lily record, addiction’s stain
Did it all on my own.
Suicide not in my plans
God forgives, I don’t why
His mercy exceeding man’s
still I have to say good bye.
Who will end the pain?
Not my own, what I've caused
turned sunshine into rain.

This is an interesting take on the contest prompt. Much empathy is pulled out of the reader with hope that peace is found.
Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela
