Graduation

Why is it
That as we grow older
We start to think
About the future.
We think about
How we need to do this or that
Or stress out about a big test.
When really the big test is coming
Our high school life is about to end
And we are going to be pushed into the real world.
No more seeing friends everyday
No more connections that were so strong
Now are severed forever
Our lives will be turned 180 degrees
And most of us aren’t ready.
But its pathetic how
We worry about petty little things
Instead of enjoying
What we have.
We are just little teenagers
Wanting to grow up so fast
That we forget that we are teenagers
And are supposed to have an amazing time
While we are this age.
But if it’s a test, or a relationship, or anything small
We blow it out of proportion
Instead of letting it blow over.
We have 1 year left of high school
ONLY one…
Yeah it might seems like forever
But before you know
We will be walking down that walkway
Sitting down for 2 hours
Listening to the smartest people speak
And our administrators tell us
How proud they are.
We then get up from our seats
And venture up to the stage
Where our ties to high school lives
Are broken and obtain our diploma.
But I don’t want those two hours to come.
I want to enjoy what we have.
I want to be happy, and see friends
I am not ready to deal with the real world.
I want to stay a kid, and goof off in class
And be immature.
Instead of growing up.
This is a huge rite of passage
That everyone must face,
Yet it seems like I am the only one
That is at the threshold of the passage
Not wanting to pass through just yet.
