Indignities

We suffer the indignities
of each other's hate
and the light lingers
  waiting for the opportunity
to send darkness away.

We cry and bow our heads,
but our prayers are empty
when souls have no mission
or understanding of love
and its need not to be compromised.

Our selfishness is self-preservation:
we ignore the truths
held in one man's willingness
to forsake self for all
and forever seal the will of darkness.

I like what you're saying in this. It reminds me of a line from "Broadway Hotel" by Al Stewart: 'Love's just a steal away, just a reveal away.' Love is risk and trust, the ultimate giving and revealing of yourself, as Christ took the ultimate risk and gave the ultimate revelation of himself. Lovely!

The pride of man pulls us deeper into the dark, yet there is freedom? Yes! The first stanza says it all for me

Excellent. I especially liked the line:

    Our selfishness is self preservation

    Great message!

Very nice verse. The last line threw me off a bit with the "darkness's will". You might try "and forever seal the will of darkness" and see how it reads. Nice work and great message!

Oh, this one hit home. Only the light of that one Man can send the deep darkness away. We think we live in the light but the darkness lurks in the corners of our soul waiting to destroy and devour all the good that is around us.

How I hate satan and how he gets entangled in the relationships of the saints.

I have missed you and I pray all is well. How is that precious grandbaby of yours? My Drew is living with us now as Becca and Jimmy Lee try to establish a home here nearer to family. Please keep them in your prayers.

    I love you Sis.

You are so right my precious sister. I have watch satan try to destroy a family ( my daughter's ) but then.. I watched Christ intercede and allow then to remember the love. They are all with me now while they save some money and seek a new home.
I have missed you too. I will continue to pray for you and yours. Love and hugs, d

Oh this is deep and can mean many things, depending on how people want to interpret the words you share in these verses. Like the truths you write about in these lines; good flow and conclusion as well.
