Lost in Embers...
The softness of lilies in your voice
guises the tearing seams of your heart
still aching, still healing
still beating after a slow death
yet, through the pain
the red hot embers of loss
and the freshness of loneliness
I can hear hope blooming wild in your voice
like Spring breaking through the Winter snows...
A simple aria
in the whisper of your thoughts-
the wishes of your heart,
heard by me, with heartbreaking tenderness
I smile...
because, I know that melody so well
the one that mimicks the beat of my own heart
the song of my own soul

oh wow! This is just what I needed to get started here on AP again after a small break! I always know to go to your page when looking for brilliance, and I'm never disappointed. I'm sitting here whispering your poem aloud, as I've lost my voice completely, and it came out almost ghostly, with the touch of secrecy and fragility. No wonder it won gold!

Cool
Excellent flow and the imagery is very clear. The heart felt joining with the author and the persona works very well. I like it. ~Peace~Gar -
What a gentle song of love and compassion and of kindred hearts and souls this is, Billie Jean. It's as beautiful and as delicate as the lilies, yet it burns like fire, like spring.
I know this melody, this song too ... yes, we've walked the road and we're smiling again. Loved this one, my friend and so great to read you again!
