The light slowly starts
To filter into the window
The first time that we curse
The beginning of a new day
We made the night last
As long as we could
Holding each other as tight as we can
Hoping against all
That it will never end
But we both know
That night
Could have been our last
Never to see one another again
And as I begin to walk out the door
We say goodbye one last time
With a kiss and a longing glance
While our time together may not have been long
We certainly wouldn’t trade it for anything
And as I take my place on the line
And await the oncoming horde
I want you to know
That my last thoughts are of you
And the time that we shared
