Ever year on the same day
An old women
Goes to the same park
To the same pond
To place a single rose
And lets it float away
She sits there until the sun goes down
Just before the light is gone
Both eyes give off a single tear
Then she leaves
Not to return to the next year
No one knew why she did this
They just seen her every year
What they didn’t know is
That this old women
Grew up in this town
And on June 11th, 1950
She meet her true love
Seeing him the first time
At that very pond
She spent that whole summer
With him
When September came along
He was to leave for the army
The night before he left
He took her to that
Spot next to the pond
And gave her a single rose
He then asked her to marry him
She of course 17 and heart
Full of love said yes
That night the two
Made love
He left the next day
And already couldn’t wait
To see her again
But what they didn’t know
Was that night they shared
In September was
Going to be there last
As a year latter
The first time
He stepped
On to foreign
Ground he was shot
And killed
So now
Every year
On the anniversary
Of when they meet
And were the meet
She comes back
Bringing only a single rose
And letting it float
In honor of her first
And only love
As she thanks him
For the greats summer
And that one night
They shared before
He left
And the son they
Had because of it
