Up?

Autism is on the rise,
now wouldn't it come
as quite a surprise,

to find these people
really are,
much brighter than us,
by far?

What if their brains
work differently?
they may understand,
what we don't see.

Maybe communication
is telepathic,
now wouldn't that
be super fantastic?

Or what if, they
are on the next plane
where no human form
needs to remain,

locked in a body,
not meaning to hide,
but unable to escape
from being inside?

One in every
One sixty-four,
the autism rate
has really soared.

I hope we find,
the true meaning,
for the sake of
all human
beings.

What if? Autism is the next step up man's evolutionary chain?

I've always been fascinated with Autism since I first heard of it. I totally agree that people with it are highly intelligent. I hadn't had the idea that they might be telepathic though and I'll be giving that a lot of thought because I'm telepathic. I often wonder why more people don't claim to exhibit this gift. You did what I asked, gave me new thoughts to ponder, brilliant, thankyou!

    Peace Georgia

    A-mazing

I really liked the way you have equated autism to being different and maybe a "good" different as opposed to the general idea of different being weird.... actually, personally i feel being weird is atleast better than being just the same as everyone else but that's just an opinion! "locked in a body not meaning to hide" It really does feel that autistic people feel that way.Loved it!( your poem! )

sometimes i think i am autistic for at times others do not hear properly what i am saying to them we all have our own angles of thought, and though they are maybe different to the norm it does not mean they are wrong. a good poem.
